Where’s that Scientific Concensus On Global Warming?

Earth Changes TV, hosted by Mitch Battros (by subscription only) has a story that says

One of the most decorated French geophysicists has converted from a believer in manmade catastrophic global warming to a climate skeptic. This latest defector from the global warming camp caps a year in which numerous scientific studies have bolstered the claims of climate skeptics.Claude Allegre, a member of both the French and U.S. Academy of Sciences, wrote: the “cause of climate change remains unknown” and pointed out that Kilimanjaro is not losing snow due to global warming, but to local land use and precipitation changes. Allegre also pointed out that studies show that Antarctic snowfall rate has been stable over the past 30 years and the continent is actually gaining ice.

Earlier this year, a group of prominent scientists came forward to question the so-called “consensus” that the Earth faces a “climate emergency.”

Battros has even quoted from Telegraph.co.uk that says warming peaked in 1998!

Another sign that that the alarm over “global warming” has been over rated or over stated is the paper from Geophyical Research Letters “Recent Cooling of the Upper Ocean” by J.M. Lyman, J.K. Willis, and G. C. Johnson. In the paper the scientists report that 20% of the total upper ocean heat that had built up over the years from 1955 to 2003 has been lost in just two years from 2003 to 2005. Raising more questions about “global warming”.

  1. I’ll give you my data on Global Warming. I’m freezing my butt off when it should still be warm in the mid-south. Temp’s are running at or 1 degree above record cold and record lows are projected (just now) by the local weather report. Global cooling is more like it.

  2. Buried under a foot of snow in Co.

  3. Ditto Scrapiron. It’s been extremely cold in SGA. This spring the blueberries were three weeks late, to give you an example. It’s a cold fall as well.

I don’t believe the temp figures citiing hottest years, etc. North America is getting colder.

    Great article, thank you Mike.
