Deep Quakes Happen Under Oregon

The 4.1 quake that took place near Grants Pass on February 26th was 24 miles underground and thought to be part of the stuck Juan de Fuca plate that slipped.

For years, scientists doubted that such deep quakes happened under Oregon, said Ian Madin, chief scientist of the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries.

“Now it turns out that they do,” he said Friday.

So, is the plate beginning to move and will Oregon get the “Big” one?
