Check out More then Major Pairs

If you trade currencies, I want you to take a look at: More then Major Pairs

Just A Little Bit Nuts?

Man, I get tired of the sell! Practically every where I turn, there’s an ad. Why there’s no ad on my WordPress dashboard is someone’s oversight.

Just this morning I received emails saying:

  • OregonLive.com’s Shopping Deals
  • Freelance Photography Guide on Sale
  • From someone on Twitter: People are lining up for this. Forex Power Strategy course: $99 for the first 99 people
  • From Amazon.com: New Dansko Styles with Free Overnight Shipping
  • From Jerusalem Post: Israel’s history in a perfect gift package for Rosh Hashana
  • My Gift To You
  • From NewsMax: 23 cent nutrient that can help flush away artery plaque
  • Give Your Feedback (on Amazon order)
  • A pop up announces that my AVG will expire or Ihave 39..38..37 days to renew

That’s just a sampling. We are inundated by people wanting our attention. My neighbor gave me a book with an article she’d written a number of years ago. She asked me to read it. Beverly leaves me notes to water or empty the garbage. My calendar gets filled by events I didn’t request; block parties, going away parties billed as a Hootenany, of all things. The sun roof is broken by a flying rock off the bridge and I have to take the car in for a replacement.

It’s sensory and demand overload, I tell you.

One thing I have control over is my blog and even here, I have ads asking you to take a moment to invest some time in my financial well being.

Hasn’t it all gotten just a little bit nuts?

The poem, My World, I wrote some years ago seems even more true today.

The world keeps spinning faster
like that steel merry-go-round
filled with playmates,
on my playground.
Pushed faster and faster
by the neighborhood bullies
today’s clowns of madness
until we’re horizontal,
barely holding on.
Pushing faster
slippery fingers
flying missiles
But I just learned Patience!!
and the clowns are convulsed with laughter.

Greenpeace Leader Lied!

When he says “…there is an urgent need for the suppression of economic growth in the United States and around the world. He said annual growth rates of 3 percent to 8 percent cannot continue without serious consequences for the climate,” he’s saying you and I should live in near poverty and starvation and highj unemployment!

No Economics 101 For The O Man!

I don’t always agree with Caroline Baum writing for Bloomberg, however she nails it with this analysis of Obama speak on healthcare.  I don’t think “he got no” economic education!

The proliferation of Obama’s gaffes and non sequiturs on health care has exceeded the allowable limit. He has failed repeatedly to explain how the government will provide more (health care) for less (money). He has failed to explain why increased demand for medical services without a concomitant increase in supply won’t lead to rationing by government bureaucrats as opposed to the market. And he has failed to explain why a Medicare-like model is desirable when Medicare itself is going broke.

Puerto Rico Geology

I’ve been fascinated by the large number of earthquakes in the Puerto Rico area. There are some good discussions of the geology at Clastic Detritus with this schematic:

According to the geologists, the North America plate is diving at a steep angle under the Caribbean Plate. That subduction has formed the island, including the Bahamas.

There is more discussion at Woods Hole Science Center website.

New Video On The S & P 500

NovaStar Warns Again!

In the continuing saga of NovaStar Financial, a subprime mortgage company still hanging on,

they “reduced its second-quarter loss compared with last year but said uncertain cash flow casts continued doubt on its ability to stay in business.”

“If the cash flows from our mortgage securities are less than currently anticipated and our operating businesses do not generate positive cash flow, there can be no assurance that we will be able to continue as a going concern” and may file bankruptcy, NovaStar said in the SEC filing.
