Obama Will Go to Copenhagen

According to the NYT and no mention of CLIMATEGATE in the article “Mr. Obama will tell the delegates to the climate conference that the United States intends to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions “in the range of 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020,” according to a White House official.”

Nowhere in the article is any thought about the consequences of this action. After all, if man is responsible for (gasp) global warning and world temperatures have not increased over the last ten years in spite of a large increase in CO2, what will the be the consequence of such a large reduction in green house gases? Why, we could plunge into another ice age. I would much rather suffer the consequences of another 3/4 degree rise in temps over the next 100 years than suffer through the darn cold. What was it that Oprah said regarding Chicago?

“Why Would Anybody Stay? It’s Freezing Here, And I Have A Mansion In Montecito

Have you had enough yet?

Obamama Bows Again

Apparently he doesn’t give a RA about what we think of his bowing. I want to say bowing and scraping, but that would be racist, I guess..

Have You Had Enough?

New York High Court Upholds Eminent Domain for Private Gain:

While upholding the taking, the New York court did not go so far as to embrace the United States Supreme Court’s much-maligned reasoning in the 2005 Kelo v. City of New London case, which held that the U.S. Constitution allows governments to condemn property for economic development alone.  Instead, the Court found the takings were for a “public use” because of the ESDC’s determination that the area to be condemned was “blighted”—a determination that was based on a study paid for by the would-be developer and not even initiated until years after the Atlantic Yards project was announced.

You can justify anything if it’s for “the public good!”  Your life and property are not safe under that justification!

CLIMATEGATE

The story that most of the MSM aren’t reporting:

CLIMATEGATE

Written by Jack Kelly

On Friday (11/20), Mr. Gore’s signature cause, anthropogenic global warming (AGW), suffered a mortal blow… if Climategate is reported fully.

The Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia in Britain is one of four places in the world where global temperature data sets are compiled.  Someone (apparently an insider) hacked into the CRU’s computer system, and on Friday posted online 1,079 emails and 72 documents.  Dr. Phil Jones, the director of the CRU, has said the emails appear to be genuine.

(The total amount of CRU data “hacked” is huge – 61 megabytes. You can download it here or here.)

Dr. Jones and his global warming alarmist colleagues have a fundamental problem:  The planet hasn’t warmed since 1998, and — according to satellite measurements — has cooled significantly in the last two years.  The emails indicate how they dealt with it. Blogger Ed Morrissey (Hot Air) summarizes:

· Prominent environmental scientists organize a boycott of scientific journals if those journals publish scholarly material from global warming dissidents.

· The scientists then orchestrate attacks on the dissidents because of their lack of scholarly material published in scientific journals.

· The scientists block from the UN’s report on global warming evidence that is harmful to the anthropogenic global warming consensus.

· The scientists, when faced with a Freedom of Information Act request for their correspondence and data, delete the correspondence and data lest it be used against them.

· The scientists fabricate data when their data fails to prove the earth is warming.

The heart of the scientific method is falsifiability.  Scientists share data with each other to see whether or not their experiments can be replicated.  By massaging data to meet a preconceived conclusion, and by hiding data from skeptical colleagues, Dr. Jones and his associates were acting more like criminal scam artists.

For instance, in an email Nov. 16, 1999, Dr. Jones told three other scientists: “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps for each series for the last 20 years (i.e., from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”

(“Mike” is Dr. Michael Mann of Penn State University, author of the “hockey stick” graph of global temperatures which Canadian researchers Stephen McIntyre and Ross McKittrick demonstrated to be fraudulent.  “Keith” is Dr. Keith Briffa of the CRU, whose temperature graphs from tree ring data from Yamal, Russia, also have been shown by McIntyre and McKittrick to be unreliable.)

“Where the heck is global warming?” asked Kevin Trenberth, head of the Climate Analysis section of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, of Prof. Mann Oct. 12.  “We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the last two days for the coldest days on record…The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.”

There’s much more in the emails, but you won’t read them in the New York Times.  Andrew Revkin, who writes the Times’ environmental section, said Friday “the documents appear to have been acquired illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted here.”

The Times has not hesitated to publish classified information illegally leaded about U.S. intelligence programs.  But for Mr. Revkin and others in the news media, protecting global warming hoaxsters from scrutiny is more important than U.S. national security.

Climategate ought to be the death knell not only of the fraud of global warming, but the fraud of “mainstream” liberal journalism as well.

The Oregonian didn’t report on this story but did have these articles featured on Oregon Live|:

Earth’s greenhouse gases reach record highs: Greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere reached record highs in 2008, with carbon dioxide levels increasing faster than previously, the UN weather agency said Monday in Geneva. CBC News’ report

It doesn’t talk about the concern these scientists have that temperatures haven’t risen in the last ten years.

Tiny group of deep-pocketed contributors fueling U.S. Chamber’s advocacy: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce often says it speaks for 3 million members, but what it doesn’t promote as readily is that 19 supporters last year provided a third of the trade group’s total revenue. And the recent spotlight on the group’s climate position creates questions over who is steering the decisions. Greenwire’s report

Again it doesn’t talk about the criminality of CRU!

Arctic ice volume lowest ever as globe warms, U.N. says: Ice volume around the Arctic region hit the lowest level ever recorded this year as climate extremes brought death and devastation to many parts of the world, the U.N. weather agency WMO said. Reuters’ report

Another scare story about the poor polar bear who are not threatened in the least as I’v ewritten about numerous times.

You have a right to get mad and tell the authorities that you are sick of hearing about (gasp) global warming/climate change!

Haven’t We Had Enough?

One of our own congressional representatives wants a tax on our stock transactions in hopes of raising $150 billion.

Under a bill being drafted by Democratic Reps. Peter DeFazio (Ore.) and Ed Perlmutter (Colo.), the sale and purchase of financial instruments such as stocks, options, derivatives and futures would face a 0.25 percent tax.

Half of the $150 billion in tax revenue would go toward reducing the deficit, while the other half would be deposited in a “Job Creation Reserve” to support new jobs.

[…]

“Your bill would put Wall Street to work for the public good, by placing a modest securities transaction tax on trades of stocks, options and swaps. A tax on these trades has little impact on the average investor or pension fund because they hold their investments for the long term, but it does disincentivize Wall Street gambling and high-volume short-term speculative trading,” the organizations wrote.

The taxpayers bail out Wall Street after Congress and Wall Street were responsible for the credit disaster that threw millions out of work.  Now you want to penalize us some more with a transaction fee that will help job creation.  You should at least kiss us or take us to a dinner and a show before trying to make sex with us.  (Hat tip to SNL.)

Let’s get over this idea that government creates jobs.  Only entrepeneurs willing to lose everything create jobs.  Their incentive is unlimited wealth if they succeed.  Governments only TAKE money from one taxpayer pocket and give it to another and taking a fee for its efforts.

Let’s get over this idea of making sex with one person in the name of the public good.  Hasn’t the eminent domain fight proved anything?

Let’s get over the idea that money raised by a tax will reduce the deficit.  As long as we have the current Congress, there will be no reduction of the deficit.  They will find innumerable ways to spend more money until there is no more.  That day is rapidly approaching.

My fellow Oregonians. it’s time to vote Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio (Ore.) out for the public good!
