“Initial claims improve over prior week.”

Bloomberg: “U.S. Initial Jobless Claims Fell 1,000 to 388,000 Last Week.”

However, last week’s good news improvement was revised upwards, last week’s 386K number was revised to 389K,  to show no improvement and to show this weeks improvement to 388,000.

More spin!

What Has Obama Wrought?

What has Obama gotten us into now?  Obama has chosen to use sanctions on Iran to bend them to our will, even though there is little evidence to suggest sanctions work.  It’s a favorite tool of liberals, because no troops get killed and Congress doesn’t have to declare war. The goal has been to get Iran to give up its nuclear weapon program, thus punishing sanctions.  The new sanctions effective June 28th target sales of oil and prohibit any  trade with Iran in U.S. dollars.

China, Iran’s largest trading partner, and biggest importer of Iranian oil objected to Obama’s sanctions “…saying Saturday (March 31st)  that Washington had no right to unilaterally punish other nations.”

China in response rejects the sanctions and countered saying it “… will look to buy the Iranian product using gold to circumvent Washington’s policy.”

Remember when Bernanke said that Gold is not money? China has just told the U.S. and Bernanke that Gold is money!  James Sinclair in an interview on KIng World News believes that there’s a big risk that the nations of the world will wake one day and say that the fiat U.S. dollar is not money and suddenly Gold is $3,000 bid, none offered.

Obama is playing with fire!

We Have Solved The Border Problem

The LA Times reports:

Amid an economic downturn and increased enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border, the number of Mexicans coming to the United States dropped significantly, while the number of those returning home increased sharply over the last several years, according to a report by the Pew Hispanic Center.

Who knew that all we needed to do was elect an anti-business president to screw up the economy so much that Mexicans could not find work here?

On Closing Humboldt and Harriet Tubman

The Portland Public School board voted last night to close Humboldt and Harriet Tubman schools to save $27 million per year.  Can two schools possibly cost $27 million a year to run? I guess if 200 teachers including staff worked at the two schools and were paid an average of $50,000 a year it could cost $10 million. Benefits could add another $10 million, leaving $7 million for capital improvements. However, that still seems high for two schools.

Do you have any input?

“The War on Terror is Over”

Says the regime.

Did we win?

“For Baum And Colgate, A Standout Season”

Most mornings, lately, boys and girls arrive at Lincoln with their books and their Lacrosse equipment. There’s at least Danny, Jack, Ciara, and Trent. Maybe they have hopes of following in the footsteps of Peter Baum formerly of Lincoln High School now making a name for himself at Colgate shown in this article in the NY Times on April 19th.

Is This A Charlie Hales Scam?

Max Redline posts that the Multnomah County elections director, Tim Scott, concluded

Mr. Hales was eligible to be registered to vote and to vote in Oregon during the time he lived in Washington State.”

Unbelievable, Charlie Hales “… lives out of state for 5 years, files taxes as a Washington resident, signs a statement certifying to Oregon Department of Revenue that he is not an Oregon resident – and saves himself over $30,000 in taxes – but Mr. Tim doesn’t see any issue. The corruption hangs thick in this burg.”

It’s Propaganda 24/7!

The economic news this morning was good, wasn’t it? Those filing for unemployment fell in the latest week by 2,000 to 386,000! However, last weeks number was revised from 380,000 to 388,000. Remember that when the 380,000 was announced, analysts were expecting 355,000.

The latest figure will be revised upward next week and I’m sure the administration will play games again. What’s galling is the MSM keeps falling for it each week. Zero Hedge has a chart that shows each week, for the last 14 weeks, has been revised upward and 90,000 more people were not counted in the original unemployment announcement.

Then we have housing sales. “… sales of existing single-family homes, town homes, condominiums and cooperatives declined 2.6% in March to a below-expected 4.48 million annual sales rate…It was the second consecutive month of sales decline…” This news was spun to make the economy look stronger by concluding it was the strongest quarter in five years,
