Marcus Camby?

Before the big trade, teams were pounding us in the middle; scoring points in the paint by the bucketful. Then comes the trade for Marcus Camby and folks were marveling at his defensive capabilities. Doc Rivers last night before the game said, “Portland got the piece it was missing!” |We were told that Camby could just step in and work wonders for our leaky middle, that it would help Aldrich.
Comes the opening tip and with the help from Camby, we finally win and a few seconds later Camby swoops to the hoop and scores his first two points. Wow! Maybe the experts were right. But, the post-trade Blazers were no different than pre-trade Blazers. Boston got layup after layup and Portland suffered its worst home loss. Camby got 7 boards and didn’t reach double figuresin scoring. Maybe, we should have traded for Randolph and his double doubles. Now we are told that the team needs to practice with Camby so they can learn about each other.
I was ready to change channels before half time. The Blazers managed to cut the lead from 22 to nine, then Rudy committed three straight turnovers and the game was over. The only Blazer showing any heart was Bayless. The funny thing is, at one point with the guys on the floor, Mike and Mike wondered who was going to score. Before the trade it would have been Blakey, but he was gone!
Who cares if they make the playoffs. They will just lose ion the first round to LA! Write it down.
