The Kern Canyon Fault Is Alive!
Posted on July 11th, 2010 by MoverMike
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that geologist Elisabeth Nadin of Caltech determined the Kern Canyon Fault in the Sierra Nevada, believed to have been quiet for more than 3 million years, is active after all and capable of triggering strong quakes with magnitudes of 6 or even 7, scientists say.

Lo and behold within the last 24 hours the USGS reports a 1.7 magnitude quake on the fault just 30 miles directly east of Porterville.
