Peru’s Cold Weather Prompts Emergency
The BBC reports Peru declares state of emergency in 16 of Peru’s 24 region as temperatures in some areas “… have dropped to as low as -24C.” Hundreds have died.
This week Peru’s capital, Lima, recorded its lowest temperatures in 46 years at 8C, and the emergency measures apply to several of its outlying districts.
I would rather die of (gasp) global warming than freeze to death!
BTW, Last year The BBC reported in June that hundreds of children died from the cold. Children in the remote southern highlands are often malnourished and are vulnerable.
