President Obama Contraception Mandate Statement
So far I have not found a transcript of Pres. Obama’s news conference today on the new rules regarding women’s health care and contraception, so here’s the video:
As of now the insurance companies are REQUIRED to provide all the health services FREE and a Catholic organization wouldn’t have to pay for it. That includes contraception and abortions will now be paid for by the insurance companies.
Two things seem apparent. The insurance companies will not provide these services for free without jacking up the rates, so we are back to Catholic agencies paying for these services. Second, if I’m an employer, why wouldn’t I object on philosophical grounds. Then my insurance would be less for awhile.
If the government can require something of value be given for free, why couldn’t Obama require other things to be given freely, like glasses or hearing aids or drugs or operations?
