Book Review: Stieg Larsson

I have finished reading “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson and the second of the trilogy “The Girl Who Played with Fire” by Stieg Larsson. To say they were hard to put down is an understatement. What drew me to the books in the first place? The locale: Sweden; the characters: a man, Carl Mikael Blomkvist, who is a financial magazine editor and a woman, Lisbeth Salander, who may be autistic, yet has some superb skills as a private eye. We discover this woman gets background information better than anyone. How? Does she read minds? What does she do that is so extraordinary?
The first is a indepth look at Blomquist and Salander secondarily, and the second the roles are reverse and we really get to know Salander. The plots are complicated, the writing is superb and when you finish one you are left wanting more. “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is soon to be released in the U.S. stars Michael Nyqvist and Noomi Rapace and has already grossed over $100 million.
