Movie Review: The Book Of Eli
We rented “The Book of Eli” last night and I found it particularly moving.
Imagine a world that had been destroyed by war and as a result, all Bibles are burned by a population that believes that religion caused the suffering. Imagine God speaks to one man. Tells him where the last Bible is hidden and instructs him to take the Bible west where it will be safe. Imagine the journey our hero, Denzel Washington, makes, walking for 30 years to the west. Imagine that our hero has God;s promise that he will be protected if he has faith. Imagine that there is someone out there on the road that will do anything…to get the book that Eli carries.
A chill went up my spine when Eli quoted the 23rd Psalm and I could repeat the words my father taught me. My heart was at peace at God’s will for Eli and for us all as the credits rolled.
