This May Make You Weep
Today, the Trail Blazers went public with their choice of General Manager. He’s 44-year-old Rich Cho, the Oklahoma City assistant general manager. Oklahoma City, formerly the Seattle SuperSonics, now the Thunder, drafted Kevin Durant #2 after Portland chose Greg Oden #1. I was going through some of my 2007 posts and I came across this post of mine: Oden Vs Durant.
Seems John Hollinger ESPN Insider, has developed an analytical method for evaluating draftees and makes the case that Durant is the best player in the draft. Thus Portland should draft Durant #1. His two big knocks against Oden are the bad wrist he suffered that held down his stats and 7-footers.
Hey, I don’t make the rules, I just play by ‘em. Seven-footers in the drafts I studied tended to greatly underperform their college stats in the pros.
Guess the Blazers might want to give John Hollinger a call. Maybe Cho can use his advice trying to get that elusive player that will take us to a championship.

No, it won’t make me weep.
I don’t like professional basketball. High school and college yes, but not professional.
The Mariners make me weep. They don’t seem too interested in trying to win a championship.
What really makes me weep are our soldiers dying at the hand of the enemy or in record numbers by their own hand in a war that we don’t seem to know who the opponent is and we don’t seem too interested in winning the championship.
Maybe it is not politically correct to try and win championships.
Never got into the Mariners. Maybe I exaggerate, but some will say, dang, I wish we known. You are right about the soldiers though, I wish they could all come home.
