Grateful For The Rain

It’s been raining here, seems like forever. It’s hard to feel grateful for the rain. Instead, the lawn is glowing green and the roses pluck at my nose as I walk the dog. I am grateful there is no drought and I am not lying in bed at night in my summer sweat.
Dorothy Livesay wrote a poem demonstrated another reason to be grateful for the rain:
IN THE STREET
In rainy weather
Who can tell
Whether we weep
Or not?
I dread the sun
For his fierce honesty.
