Storm Large: New Album June 1st
Here we are how many months since we were introduced nationally to Storm Large? I was checking my traffic to this blog yesterday and I'm still getting searches for "Storm Large". What is happening with her I wondered? Well you'll be rocked to hear that her new albun "Ladylike, Side One" releases June 1st. Here's the album cover:

Yesterday Storm commented on her blog about the photo suggesting she will get some heat for exposing herself. Here's what she says:

Yes , I get called hot , I get called beautiful , sexy ... all that ...and you know what ? I love it . Why ? Because that's ALL I EVER wanted to be . It is all I prayed for when I was a fat , punk rock , lonely lonely young girl in a small town .

[...]

However , when it comes to my album cover ... I took a LOT of lumps to make it happen . I'm sure I'll take more lumps when it comes out ..and all things being equal here : Why not show my lumps ? Not the fergilicious " Humps"... but hard earned, ugly ass lumps . I won't moan and whine about it or drag around a chain of sorrow and difficulty for all to marvel at my ability to overcome ...stare at my feet on stage and act miserable . That's not me either . I have come a long way to get to the point where I am pretty joyful about who and what I am .

I was one of those in Portland, Oregon who had never heard of Storm until that show and was taken by her ability to make us believe she was letting everything go. Almost turning herself inside out to show us a living breathing woman who has lived and loves life.

I hope Storm's album nears the pleasure I got watching her perform on TV. If so she will have a hit album. I can't wait until June 1st!

Storm Large is Bounced!
The Oregonian's A&E has the latest on

Storm Large, saying she and Magni have been bounced from the tour and will not be appearing in PDX with Supernova.

Typical Storm says,

"They SAY it's financial,... but I know what REALLY went down ... I clearly haven't slept with enough people. I thought I got all of em' but a few were kinda squirrely and escaped my lusty grip. DANG IT !!"
She and the Balls will be appearing tomorrow night at the sold out Wonder Ballroom and November 18th at the Crystal Ballroom.

Shall we go?

Rock Star Picks Lukas!
When all was said and done, it was over weeks ago, and as predicted, Lukas Rossi is the front man for Supernova. The band passed on competence in Storm and Magni. They passed on the babe magnet, Aussie Toby Rand, who really seemed to have a feel for a way to get the crowd involved, as in White Wedding. They passed on South African Dilana who was one big ball of fire with an amazing voice. When I hear her sing, I hear Janis Joplin and for some reason Ann Wilson, lead singer of Heart

Supernova chose Lukas, the Canadian Goth. His moves on stage are as classic as Mick's, his voice conveys complex emotions, yet he has trouble remembering and writing songs.

Last summer I downloaded The Man Who Sold the World sung by Jordis Unga and I downloaded Creep sung by Marty Casey. I will buy the album of both of those artists, and this year I will buy an album of Storm's maybe I'll buy Dilana's.

My fire went out a lot when Stormie was booted, however watching Rock Star: Supernova was a fun way to get acquainted with some new music and pass some hot summer nights. You know I'll be right back here next year, 63 going on 25.

Supernova
Regarding Rock Star: Supernova, let me quote Right Thoughts:
For some reason I’m not excited, I just want it to be over already.
My God I miss Storm!

Rock Star Finals Tonight!
Tonights the night for the final competition at Rock Star: Supernova and tommorrow a "winner" will be announced. But... you and I know who the best contestant was and should have been in the finals: Storm Large!

Lee Williams serves up his latest Storm Watch at The Oregonian.

Though Storm won't be competing in tonight's finale, she definitely will be in the house, and perhaps back on the stage. If enough viewers had voted for her to return for a special encore performance, she will. But early buzz online was showing either brooding rocker Ryan Star or frenzied performer Zayra Alvarez might have earned the spot.

Storm on Ellen DeGeneres Show
New from Lee Williams of The Oregonian

Fasten your seats belts: Portland performer Storm Large, who was booted off "Rock Star: Supernova" this past Wednesday night, may not get her chance to shine in the finale of the reality TV series next week. But she's still enjoying her time in the media spotlight as she embarks on a whirlwind post-show media tour of Los Angeles. First up: On Monday, Sept. 11, Storm will appear and sing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Portlanders can catch Storm on "Ellen" on KOIN (6) at 4 p.m. Monday. This Storm is far from over.

Storm Plans For Future
Lee Williams writes in The Oregonian about Storm Large and her plans for Balls and a solo.future
"I feel like I went out on a high note," she told The Oregonian on Thursday afternoon. "Tuesday night I thought I gave the best performances I've ever given on the show. There was just no better way to end." Williams even has a confessional of Stormie to share:

Stormie's Gone!
She made Portland proud. She put on a hell of a final performance Tuesday night with Dave Navarro saying that was the best original song, What the What is Lady like!, in two years of Rock Star.

She's beautiful and classy and got Portland to tune in and vote. In the end Storm Large proved she will make a great headliner, not the front for some very large egos.

I have never been to Dante's to hear her sing with The Balls and I have never heard her at Wilf's. I have missed one heck of a fine entertainer. I am sad that Stormie's gone and right now don't care who wins next week. One more thing. Tonight Storm sang a song dedicated to her mother and there weren't many dry eyes in the house when she finished. We love you, Storm!

Toby and Storm: Class!
I saw the preliminary voting and it had Storm in 4th and Dilana in 5th. I like the 5th spot for Dilana, but 4th for Storm! I thought she killed and she was hot in the black outfit with the hat and then the white top and hat.

Storm with Dave. Hat tip to Rock Star Supernova News

"What the What is lady like?" is a good original song that I will pay to have. I was really impressed by Toby tonight and Storm. The other three can be in the bottom three!

Update:

Rock Star: Supernova - Tonight
From The Oregonian, Storm watch: week 10 by Lee Williams:
"I want to be in that finale," Storm says on a call from the show's Hollywood Hills mansion, where the contestants live during the competition. "I want to win!"
Last week Storm landed in the bottom three and Gilby's one criticism of Storm was that he didn't think she had grown on stage as much as others.
"Gilby said he wants something from me that he hasn't seen or heard yet," Storm says. "I feel that, while I've been here, I have grown musically and spiritually. But he hasn't seen it yet. That's something I need to work on, and that's what I took from that comment. You have to take these comments constructively."
Tonight here are the songs of the contestants:

Dilana
Behind Blue Eyes (The Who)
Supersoul (original)

Magni
Back in the U.S.S.R. (The Beatles)
When the Time Comes (original)

Storm
Suffragette City (David Bowie)
Ladylike (original)

Lukas
Livin’ On a Prayer (Bon Jovi)
(original)

Toby
Mr. Brightside (The Killers)
Throw It Away (original)

Let's see what kind of trouble Dilana is in this week!

Rock Star: Down to Five!
The Lukas Rossi Connnection has the song selection for Tuesday night's Rock Star: Supernova competition:

Dilana
Behind Blue Eyes (The Who)
Supersoul (original)

Magni
Back in the U.S.S.R. (The Beatles)
When the Time Comes (original)

Storm
Suffragette City (David Bowie)
Ladylike (original)

Lukas
Livin’ On a Prayer (Bon Jovi)

Toby
Mr. Brightside (The Killers)
Throw It Away (original)

Update:

"Hurricane" Dilana
I know a lot of you really like Dilana and her chances of fronting for Supernova, but Dave Navarro hints that she will be in trouble again on Tuesday's show:
If you haven’t watched the online reality show I suggest you do. There is a lot of heat regarding Dilana’s "screw you to the fans" comment. I can’t figure out what she could have possibly meant. Part of me wants to think that she was referring to the haters online and that it accidentally came out wrong, but then again, that girl really need to learn to think before she opens her mouth. She does go on to say that she needs her fans later in the episode, so it is more than a little confusing in terms of where the hell she is coming from. Onstage I think she is amazing, but off stage, she has the potential to really piss off a lot of people. It seemed that she was redeeming herself from a couple of weeks ago, but I really think that she may have signed her own Supernova Death Certificate with this one. I am curious to see what happens because I have always wondered how much of an impact the online episodes have on the voting.(emphasis added)
Wow! She can be amazing in front of the band and equally amazing, but in a negative way, off stage.

Storm Large In Bottom Three
Well, Storm got her wish and rang up her first bottom three, along with Ryan and Dilana. Storm sang Helter Skelter, Ryan was manic and jumped off the amps and Dilana gave a weird performance singing a Talking Heads song. In the end Ryan was booted.

Storm acted surprised because Gilby said she hadn't grown much in nine weeks and Dilana looked relieved. She had avoided being dispatched even though her mouth had severely wounded her. The remaining five get a good lesson in song writing. That could be very valuable.

Who will be the next to go? I can only guess. My money is still on Storm in the top four!

Rock Star: Supernova
That was quite a show tonight. If you are a rock fan, you got a treat.

* Lukas - “Lithium” by Nirvana - That was about the best Lukas presentation and unlike times past, he worked just great with the audience and left the house band alone.
* Toby - “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol - my ex-wife's favorite song. Didn't you just want to yell, "More, more, more?" Nice touch of bringing the girls on stage.
* Magni - “I Alone” by Live - another great performance by Magni and he really connected with the audience.
* Ryan - “Clocks” by Coldplay - I loved Ryan's performance. His falsetto was really working. A little manic, maybe. Desperation, maybe? The way he used the microphone bothered me.
* Dilana - “Mother Mother” by Tracy Bonham - Top performance of the night. Dilana really can sing. She deserves this band. Someone said the winner will get no creative control, only $5,000 per week and no share of the profits if they win. Dave and Tommy say we should put last weeks outburst by Dilana behind us. Maybe, but maybe if she wins, its Karma.
* Storm - “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence - I've saved commenting on Storm for last. I didn't like the song, but I liked Storm and we haven't seen Storm, really, since Anything, Anything. If she lands in the bottom three, which she probably will if the preliminary voting is a clue, she will get a chance to sing a song chosen by her. Then let the chips fall where they may. I think she's better as a single. I can see it now "Storm Large and The Balls" headlining at the Hard Rock Cafe. I would pay to see that!

I would guess the band deserves Dilana or Lukas.

Bottom three: Storm, Magni, Ryan. Going home: Magni.

Update:

Storm's On Tonight!
Lee Williams writes in The Oregonian, Don't be 'Cryin' ' for chanteuse yet, in Storm Watch talks to Williams about Dilana and last weeks episode, see (Right Thoughts) that showed how snarky Dilanan could be.
"It was out-of-the-world bizarre," Storm says. "I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I don't know where it came from. She had a bad day with the press, and it was shown to the world."

The reverberations of the episode were felt around the mansion. "It was an awful day . . . and Dilana and I are keeping our space," Storm says.

With two weeks to go, there are six contestants left vying to front Supernova. I'm wondering if the bad press last week will sour some of Dilana's support. If you are rooting for a woman to front Supernova, will that support go to Storm. We'll see Wednesday.

dingoRUE has posted that the viewer's choice songs for tonight are:

* Lukas - “Lithium” by Nirvana
* Toby - “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol
* Magni - “I Alone” by Live
* Storm - “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence
* Ryan - “Clocks” by Coldplay
* Dilana - “Mother Mother” by Tracy Bonham

Dave Navarro's predictions for bottom three:

My prediction? Storm, Ryan and Toby.

Rock Star: Supernova Results!
Ex-neighbor Kristi Turnquist of The Oregonian gives us the summary of the RS: SN show tonight and no Storm Large did not fall into the bottom three.
Maybe the fact that Storm Large was in the bottom three after the first votes came in during Tuesday night's "Rock Star: Supernova" show helped save her for another week. Perhaps the threat of Storm getting the boot prompted fans to hit the phone lines in droves. For whatever reason, when the bottom three were revealed on Wednesday's elimination episode, Portland's sultry singer was not in the trio of terror.
The bottom three were Patrice, Magni and Toby and Patrice got the Tommy Lee hammer.

Rock Star: Down to Six!
It's down to seven, and one more goes home tomorrow.

Patrice - Beautiful Thing - (Original song) I liked the song, good energy. She seems too sweet, more like Sarah McLachlin trying to be a rocker. I don't think she has a big enough voice for this gig. Dave is right. Patrice should be a single.

Magni - Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana A great performance by Magni, a little too constrained. He really should have broken something!

Ryan - Back of your Car - (Original song) This guy is coming from behind and proves he can front the band and he is dark and dirty. The man looked off balance a number of times. Probably can't dance.

Storm - Cryin’ - Aerosmith - That was great! Am I biased? You bet. We got to see Storm rockin' tonight. She's beautiful and nasty. Nice combination! You can take this woman home to meet mom. Just don't leave them in a room together, alone.

Now there's not even breathin' room
Between pleasure and pain
Yeah you cry when we're makin love
Must be one and the same
Dilana - Every Breath You Take - the Police This was an off night for Dilana, IMO. The song was too low and sounded like it was Karaoke. Again the makeup is totally distracting. What's with all the whirling? Did she tryout for Fleetwood Mac?

Toby - Layla - Eric Clapton I am bored with Layla, the song and I am bored with the black outfits and chains and black jeans.

Lukas - All These Things That I’ve Done - The Killers I am unfamiliar with the song, but I liked Lukas' doing it and he has a great voice.

Bottom three: Patrice, Dilana and Toby. Time for Patrice to go home.

Lee Williams Reports: Storm Large
Lee Williams at The Oregonian has the report of his conversation with Portland's Storm Large and he says she is "now" fighting for her song, which she has been reluctant to do. She didn't reveal her choice, but my spies say it is Cryin' by Aerosmith.
