Surprise Jokulhlaup (Glacial Outburst Flood) At Katla

An undated image of Katla showing its low, broad profile and the Myrdaljökull icecap.
Something has caused a surprise jokulhlaup (glacial outburst flood) at Katla closing the Ring Road around Iceland. It was either caused by an small eruption under the ice or movement of magma near the surface heating the glacier. We may be getting close to a Katla eruption, the last major eruption was in 1918.
BTW, Iceland Volcano and Earthquake blog is an excellent source for Katla information.
