Colliding Auroras Produce Explosions of Light

We didn’t know that auroras collided until the Fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union today in San Francisco.
We didn’t know that auroras collided until the Fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union today in San Francisco.
I’d have to wonder, who was it that would not have expected such collisions. Energy and particles have been colliding with each other all over the universe, why would the Auroras be exempt? I find this almost amusing even with my limited knowledge.
Until, now, no one could see the forest for the trees!
