“Have No Truck With”
Posted on October 23rd, 2011 by MoverMike
I said to my wife that I didn’t want to have any “truck” with those two. She said “Truck?”
Sometimes, I think these words I come up with up with are from the Okies or maybe the Ozarks, so I looked the phrase up:
have no truck with
Have no dealings with, as in The doctor said he wanted no truck with midwives. This term was first recorded in 1868, although truck in the sense of “dealings” dates from the early 1600s.
I guess the phrase has been around for awhile.
